Read below to learn all about our massive showcase at the most recent Melbourne Wedding & Bride Expo.

Our Biggest Showcase Yet! – Melbourne Wedding & Bride Expo

After a fairly rough 2020 for the Melbourne live music scene, we had been planning to do a full day live showcase this expo for quite a while. In Melbourne we came out of lockdown in November, and in December as a band, we started doing roughly 6 gigs a week. It was busy to say the least. By January 2021 Melbourne once again had COVID 19 cases, and it was starting to look as though we were headed for a dreaded third lockdown! It was touch and go for a while there about whether the expo would actually go ahead. But it did! We were among 150 top wedding industry suppliers at the Expo. Everything from top quality Celebrants, Hair & Make Up Artists, Photographers, Videographers, Music Suppliers. So much to see and do!

As a band we had lots of preparations to make. On the day, we delivered four live performances. We had to plan and rehearse the amazing wedding songs we played for our new clients to be. On the day, we performed both as a 5-piece band Melbourne, and a 3-piece Acoustic Trio. We played both old and new school songs. Numbers such as Billie Eilish’s ‘Bad Guy’ and the classic Stevie Wonder ‘Superstition’!

Before the day there was a heck of a lot of organising to do. Making sure our flyers and banners were on point, making a COVID safe lolly jar for people to munch on. Spray tans, dress hire, nails, eyelashes, you name it. All the fun stuff that our beautiful wedding clients will probably also be doing in the lead up to their weddings as well!

The Saturday prior to the Expo we bumped in. The bump in took quite a few hours, as we wanted to make sure all of our stuff was placed nicely. We also had to do a sound check to make sure that the PA worked and to check our sound volume as well.

The Day Itself- Wedding Music Bands Melbourne

The actual Expo day was incredibly busy. The organisers at Melbourne Wedding & Bride had 4900 people register for the expo. On the day roughly 2/3 of the people showed up. There was a line forming at around 7.45am at the front door. Our band had a flash rehearsal at 8am. Some of the guys struggled to get into the venue by that time as there was a crazy line of cars at the Showgrounds, all trying to gain entry. All the guys got in, and we started our sound check and flash rehearsal. As a band, we had not done an expo like this before, so we didn’t quite know what to expect. Once 9am came around, there was people flooding in everywhere. Our stall was placed on the end of a row, opposite the fashion parade. Our stall was definitively a high visibility position. We had people walking past us and up to us from all directions. We had all the musicians in our 5-piece band Melbourne, talking to Expo goers as they walked up to us. People were asking questions, taking flyers and writing down their contact details to keep in touch.  It was pretty much mayhem. The day was extremely busy, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our performances were really fun, and we met some amazing couples we’ll be keeping in close contact with over the year.

So, the big question is, would we perform at this expo again? The answer is yes! We had a blast and met some amazing couples.
